A great article about Pella's energy efficient Impervia Series windows

Pella Impervia® featured in net-zero energy home in the Valley of the Sun

As part of Greenbuild 2009, Pella® Windows and Doors contributed to a Habitat for Humanity project to build a net-zero energy home in Phoenix. In spite of scorching desert temperatures, the net-zero energy home is designed to consume the same amount of energy that it produces on a yearly basis. Design considerations like insulation and air-tightness of exterior walls and windows, plus the efficiency of household appliances and the use of solar power help drive energy conservation.

  • The Pella Window & Door Store in Tempe donated and installed ENERGY STAR®-rated Pella Impervia® windows, a sliding patio door plus a fiberglass entry door.
  • The home is Platinum level LEED® certified and ENERGY STAR qualified.

Made with Duracast® — Pella’s patented five-layer, engineered fiberglass composite — energy-efficient Impervia windows and doors can withstand the forces of Mother Nature without cracking, shrinking or warping in extreme weather conditions.

  • Greenbuild International Conference and Expo Nov. 11 – 13, promotes sustainable building practices and will offer a tour of the Habitat for Humanity home and others Sat., Nov. 14, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Pella’s Greenbuild booth #930 is on the second floor of the 500 Mile Pavilion in Phoenix.
